FSX B737 Recommendation
« on: January 02, 2012, 02:46:50 pm »
I am about to take the plunge and move on from the turboprops i love and have used for in excess of 10,000hrs according to my Flight Sim logbook.

I think i will start out with a B737 as i have done a few short hops in one on vANZ and in my own testing and training for a jet aircraft. What i am after is a recommendation for a good B737. I already have the Just Flight 737PIC but that has issues with it when using the VC and FSInn. I have looked at the iFly B737 and the PMDG one and they seem to come out very even. What do you all think is the best B737 out there at the moment?

The PMDG 737 NGX is newer than the iFly and seems more complete. It was made under license from Boeing using real data from the real aircraft. However it is VERY hungry on PC specs so I'd suggest reading into that before buying. I don't have the aircraft so I can't comment on how it really is but it takes a bit of learning - real world procedures need to be done in order to fly it properly so its not one of those "ctrl - e to start" types of planes.

Just my 2c

I too reccomend the NGX from PMDG having run both the PMDG and the IFly in the FSX environment. They are both hungry on PC specs.

You do need to read all the literature for the operation of the AC, but if you have run the PMDG 73X series for FS9 you should not have many problems at all.

Thanks guys,

I have come to the same conclusion myself after a bit more research. The thing that swung my most was the ability to see the PMDG support forum and read the good, bad and ugly comments on theie offering. iFly on the other hand makes you register with your order number before allowing access to the forums.

It looks like the PMDG operation is closely aligned with that of the Just Flight one but does not have the issues that the JF one does with VC and FSInn.

I have now got the PMDG one and will get that all loaded and try out a route soon.
