Real world ATC emergency.
« on: February 07, 2010, 12:34:33 pm »
For those that may be interested, this is an actual ATC recording and Radar Scope view of a low time single engine private pilot who was traveling with his family from Marco Island, Florida to Jackson, Mississippi in a Beech King Air.

At some point in the KMIA control area the pilot of the aircraft appears to have had a turn for the worse and subsequently passes away at the controls. What follows is an excellent example of understanding and co-operation between both the low time private pilot and ATC to avoid any further tragedy .

.

There is a further follow up in a press release from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association that gives a further insight into the incident here:-

Regards,
Gary.
