There is currently a opening on the VATSIM Board of Governors
(BoG) for VATGOV4 - VP Regions.  The position's description (as defined in the Code of Regulations) is:

"Acts as the Board of Governors’ representative to the VATSIM Executive Committee and with individual Regional Directors. In addition, this Governor assists Regional Directors with inter-regional issues."
   
To qualify, you must be a member of VATSIM in good standing, you
must be 18 years of age or older, and have a fluent command of
the English Language.  You also must have a strong willingness to
contribute to the VATSIM Organization and you must take an active
role.  Past contributions and leadership roles in the flight simulation community are desired.
 
Applicants must have significant experience in, and understanding of, the issues that VATSIM is facing today.  We would like someone to jump right in without having to hop on too big of a learning curve.  They must also have significant understanding of the issues surrounding the Global Ratings Policy and a willingness to undertake review, revision, implementation and, most importantly, follow up and enforcement of it.  Last, they must have experience in oversight of staff.  It is preferable to have someone with real world and/or VATSIM-based experience in this area.  Solid managerial experience is preferred.

This position requires a SIGNIFICANT time commitment to the VATSIM network.  It is not unreasonable to expect to dedicate between 5 and 10 hours per week to answering email and conducting VATSIM business.  This is not business that can be conducted while sitting at the computer controlling or flying online.  In effect, serving on the Board of Governors is a second job for most people and requires a similar commitment of time and effort.
